As you drive North into the town of St Helena, the view becomes so lush and green. Vineyards are everywhere and off to the left of the highway is the popular culinary school. I absolutely love this whole area. There are so many unique places to stop and eat or drink if you’re a wine lover :). As you drive a little further, past the culinary school, there is a beautiful little place I found called Brasswood! It is a winery that has so much more than just wine! There is a full restaurant, a tasting room, a bottle shop, and what I went there for…a bakery complete with coffee and hot chocolate!
The atmosphere when you walk into the bakery is so charming! Brass pots, pans and wicker baskets hanging from the ceiling on metal railings. The wall and ceiling is painted white and brings in so much light! There are cute metal round tables and longer wooden farm style tables that make you feel so relaxed.
The decor is simple, cute, comfortable and not over done. I just love this shelving unit! I would like to have something like this in my house.
They have indoor seating or you can take your food out on this gorgeous patio! There is a shade structure to help keep you cooler in the warmer months, and a fireplace for the cooler months. Beyond the fireplace is a beautiful green grass courtyard. They hold several types of special events there!
In the center of the grounds is this beautiful water feature. Its so pretty and sitting out on the patio and listening to its water trickling is very relaxing. This would also make for a great photo opportunity with your coffee date :).
Inside where you order your food and tasty treats, they have a couple of glass cases filled with beautiful desserts! All of which are hand made on site. I seriously wanted to try them all! LOL They just look soooooo delicious! Are there any desserts in the picture capturing your attention?
They also have a few picnic lunch items as well, such as sandwiches and salads. Everything is made fresh from produce that is grown local in the Napa valley. I love the fact they keep local as much as possible. I think it adds so much, not only to the tasty entrees, but also to their home-style reputations. Also I must say the staff is super nice and very accommodating!
They have several coffee choices and, of course, my favorite – hot chocolate!! I love that they offer dairy free options as most of my family is lactose intolerant. You can either get soy or almond milk :). I chose Soy milk and I must say my hot chocolate was yummy!! So yummy it was gone in a matter of minutes! lol.
After ordering my hot chocolate, I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. This is not your average grilled cheese though, they brought it to a whole new level with whole grain mustard and apple fennel jam š It was quite tasty. I have never had a grilled cheese with anything in it other than cheese before. So this was a definitely a new flavor for me. I actually liked it! And the fries were perfect! Just the right thickness, and crispy, but not too crispy.
My daughter Tifani was my coffee date this time and she ordered an iced soy hazelnut latte and a Turkey Panini. The latte, she said, was really good!! The sandwich had spinach, red onions, spicy mayonnaise, and apple quince chutney made on a house made foccacia bread. You can also have cheese on it if you would like. She was equally a fan of her sandwich! So fresh and delicious.
There are so many options when you visit here on your travels through St Helena. Brasswood offers a little bit for everyone. There are a few different tasting room experiences for the wine lovers. There is a restaurant for those needing a refreshing lunch, or a little morning coffee. There is also the bottle shop to bring your favorite wines home.
If you haven’t been here before, and you’re in the area, I would definitely stop in! Grab a quick bite inside or grab something to go and head out to a picnic. Or sit back and stay awhile, try out their wines and don’t forget the desserts!
They were setting up for an event while I was there, so I wasn’t able to see everything they have to offer. I will be going back lol! Maybe I’ll even try a couple of the wine experiences they offer!
Have you been to Brasswood before? If you have what was your favorite food item?
