Blogger Interview with Have Clothes Will Travel

Happy New Year! I started a new series called “Blogger Interviews” a few months ago and I introduced you all to Dates in the States. This month I have an incredible woman to introduce you to from Have Clothes Will Travel.

Meet Lindsey 🙂

I reached out to Lindsey because I was impressed with her site, her adorable style and the beautiful places that she had traveled to so far. She was very sweet and we started to share helpful hints on becoming successful bloggers.

I think your going to love her site, her travels and the beautiful outfits she puts together :). I mean isn’t her logo the cutest????

Tell me a little about yourself?

Hi! I’m Lindsey. I’m a style/travel blogger at Have Clothes, Will Travel. I’ve recently moved to Moscow, Russia, but I’m originally from Wisconsin. (Go Packers!) My husband and I have been moving all over the country and world for the last 5 years, and Have Clothes, Will Travel has served as a way to document it all, plus share my personal style.

What was the purpose/goal when you started your blog?

It originally started as a way for me to stay in touch with my family while we were moving here there and everywhere. It served as a way to show them what we were up to. My husband also suggested I add style into my blog posts, as I had taken some photos for ModCloth’s Style Gallery that had gone over well, and I always enjoy experimenting with my personal style. And the rest is history!

How did you come up with the name “Have Clothes, Will Travel?”

Have Clothes, Will Travel was really born out of a series of brainstorming sessions where I tried to come up with a name that embodied style and travel (thanks to my husband, I decided to blog about both, and not just our travels). I had originally tried to get the word “Nomad” in there, but I’m glad Have Clothes, Will Travel is what I ultimately decided on.

What can readers take away from your blog?

I hope to inspire others to experience the world around them and to jump at every travel opportunity they are presented with…whether it’s visiting a new museum in their hometown or hopping on a plane to some foreign land. I also give my readers some pointers for their future adventures in all my posts.

I also use my blog as a way to explore my passion for style and encourage others to wear what makes them happy, plus I’ll share awesome sales and style tips from time to time.

I see that you love to travel. How many places have to traveled to so
far?

I’ve been fortunate enough to live in Japan, Australia, Argentina and now Russia. I’ve been able to travel to many places within and around those countries. As far as countries, I’ve been to 10 total, including: New Zealand, India, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil and Italy.

I see that you love fashion and put together some beautiful outfits! If a reader falls in love with one of your outfits where can they go to
purchase pieces or better yet the whole outfit?

Aw, thank you so much! I always link to all the pieces featured in my photos both right at the top of any blog posts and also at the bottom under my “where to find it” section. Another great way is to follow me on LIKEtoKNOW.it and shop all my photos via that amazing app!

Tell me more about the Featured Fashionistas section on your blog?

My Featured Fashionista section is where I interview one talented lady each month and share her accomplishments and blog or business with my readers. It’s how I try to spread the word about some of my favorite bloggers and business owners.

What tips can you give other bloggers?

Find a subject you are passionate about and go for it! Blogging should be enjoyable, if it begins feeling too much like a chore, you need to take a step back and reassess the direction you are heading. It’s also important to take inspiration from other bloggers, but not try to copy them. Be true to yourself, or you will get exhausted trying to keep up with the facade of emulating so-and-so of a blogger, and eventually will burn out. If you’re being true to yourself and pouring your heart into your blog, people will notice and gravitate to you.

I love the fact that you are able to travel around to different countries and share it with your readers! Do you have any advice for others that are curious about becoming a nomad and adventuring out to explore the world?

Be open-minded and ready for change. You can plan as much as you want, but when traveling and exploring, things are never going to go according to plan. The key to a successful travel experience is how you are able to react and adapt to the changes and challenges you’re presented with. If you are able to roll with it and laugh off the cancellations and delays, language snafus, and also embrace the cultural differences you encounter, you’ll have an AMAZING experience!

Where do you hope to, or plan to travel next?

I just wrapped up the details on a trip I’m taking to Turkey in two weeks! It’s always been a dream of mine to visit Cappadocia…. stay in a cave, see their fairy chimneys and Goreme Open Air Museum and ride a hot air balloon. Gah!! I’m so excited!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Lindsey 🙂 Give her a follow on her social sites as she will be adventuring to some great places this year!
