Clean Your Window Tracks In 5 Easy Steps

Are your window tracks dirty? Do you just look at them and get disgusted lol? I know I did! I mean they carry not only unwanted dust, dirt and bugs but also mold. Cleaning window tracks doesn’t have to be hard and in fact it is really easy 🙂 I am here to give you a few simple steps to get those window tracks in shape and sparkling clean! I hope this helps you!

Step 1: Gather together these following tools

*vacuum with attachments

*cloroxwipes

*gloves

*glass cleaner

*paper towels

*small trash bag

*flat head screwdriver or plastic scraper

Step 2: Start with using your hand held attachments on your vacuum and vacuum out all of the loose dirt, dust and bugs from the window track.

Step 3: Get a clorox wipe (or something similar if you dont use these) start wiping out the track as much as you can. The wet wipe really helps to get that gunk out of there! I keep flipping the wipe over so that I have a clean area on the wipe to gather more dirt.

Step 4: Now this is the good part!! Wrap that Clorox or similar wipe around the end of the screw driver and get into those tight areas! Be very careful not to scratch the window! You can also use a plastic scraper. To get under the sliding window you can even use a little round bristle brush.

I start at one end and push the screw driver tip down into the gap and drag all the way to the opposite end of the track. I mean just look at what comes out when you do that!!! YUK!!

This may take several attempts to get all debris out. I had to do this several times but after I was done the window track looked sparkling clean :). You can either vacuum out that pile or just use the Clorox wipe to gather it and throw it in the trash bag.

Step 5: Don’t forget to open the window and do that track also 🙂 Also, go ahead and give those windows a clean. I mean you might as well because those window tracks now look SUPERB!!

Hope this gives you some inspiration to get started on spring cleaning 🙂 Not only will it look good but its a great way to make sure there is less mold in the home.
