Finding your Tribe

What is a “Tribe” you ask?

It is a group of people who lift you up, support you, carry you, inspire you and believe in you! You can have a tribe of just women, just men or a mix of everything! For me, the tribes that I have are all women. Finding a tribe is emotionally nurturing. I personally believe that if you belong to a tribe, you will gain self respect, confidence, and love, which will help you emerge into a stronger version of yourself! There are a few simple rules in the tribe: no drama allowed, no hatred or bullying, and no judging. Its simply women coming together to connect and help eachother while sharing the kindness that is within them <3.

Who is “my Tribe”?

Well, I don’t just have 1, I actually have 4. Lol. My tribes vary in size, some are as small as 4 or 5. Others are anywhere from 100 on up to 500+.  Some are women that live close to me, and in one tribe it is women from across the entire world! The Tribe of women I will talk about today, are women that I truly love, admire, and respect. The amazing women in this tribe are, my two older sisters, two of my cousins, and a second cousin :). We call ourselves “The Hotflashes,” ha! The name should be pretty self explanatory, but if it isn’t, let’s just say we are all in different stages of menopause. Haha!

Talking daily to these women is a blessing!

I talk to these women on a daily basis through a group text message. Sometimes when needed we will talk on the phone as well. When I say it is a daily basis, I mean some days its from sunrise to sunset lol! Usually we talk about something exciting we are about to do, or something funny that happened during our day. We also give each other prayers when we need a little extra help. We will reassure each other, that we are ALL beautiful, kind, worthy, and gifted. We also keep each other motivated to eat healthy, while also encouraging care for the mind, body, and soul. In order to hold each woman accountable for eating healthy, we share various recipes as well as what we are having for lunch or dinner. If we are in a one of those funny moods, we will send snapchat videos to each other. Snapchat has a variety of filters that cover your face and either make you look really good or really weird, lol! Some of the filters also alter your voice, which allows for a lot of laughs. We have a great time sending these videos to each other. Sometimes we will even end up in tears from laughing so hard. These videos have helped each one of us laugh and find the positives of life, on some of the hardest days.

Weekend getaways with my tribe are so refreshing.

Every year we get out of town for the weekend to just simply have some girl time. It is usually Friday through Sunday, but this year we decided to extend it until Monday :). Each trip we pick a new place and a new form of housing. We have stayed in an elite hotel, rented houses on the beach, and for this next trip, we are thinking about glamping! For those of you who don’t know what glamping is, it is “glam camping.” There are actual tents that are so nice they look like a hotel inside. We always love a new experience and finding “hidden gems” along the way. These trips give us time to be ourselves, laugh, and be silly. They also allow us to lean on each other for support with our stresses and receive guidance for some of the struggles we may encounter. I couldn’t image going through life without these women! They make me a better person and I LOVE them dearly for everything they do for me!!

Different personalities are greatly appreciated!

Each woman is special and brings her own gifts to the tribe. One keeps us going and going (lol!), another gives the best advice. One is very stylish and keeps us looking great, another is amazing at keeping us motivated. One is a comedian and makes us laugh, while another pushes us to GET OUT THERE and see the world. Overall, each woman’s expertise overlaps. We know when each of us needs a specific push in a category. We learn from eachothers gifts and find that we grow from them.

It’s a blessing to have a safe place to really allow each one of us women to find our inner soul. They know so much about me. They know when I need them to chime in and give me a pep talk, love, prayers, or to just simply calm my hyper butt down haha!! Again, I truly feel these women make me a better version of myself and I am truly blessed to have them in my life <3 I love each one of them dearly!

Do you have a tribe? How has it helped you? Looking forward to reading your experiences.

I think having multiple “tribes” is so important! It allows you to be exposed to multiple perspectives, especially when you’re seeking out advice.

Yes very true! I love the different perspectives I get.

What a great post! A tribe is so so so important! I also agree that it’s so beneficial to have a few that overlap in the areas of your life. I’m a stay at home mom to a toddler so one tribe is full of moms in the same phase of life. Another tribe is women who are also into blogging. Another is the women in my family who’ve known me the longest.

I tend to be an introvert so the concept of a tribe is really interesting to me. Sounds like a great experience for you. Thanks for sharing!

I love that you have multiple tribes too! It is so great be part of tribes that contribute to and satisfy different parts of my life and myself…can’t imagine what it would be like to not have them all.
